Appearance: At first glance, Sakura isn't much different from any average Japanese girl. Most of the time she wears a typical school uniform consisting of a black sweater with white cuffs lined with red. Her sailor-styled collar flaps out to a little above the waist with a loose neck-tie for extra decoration. She has a white, pleaded skirt which stops at the knees and has white socks with black shoes. Unusually for a Japanese person, her eyes are a strong shade of green. Her light brown hair is about shoulder length and is usually tied up into two pigtails looped back into the hair bands. Other times she wears more relaxed clothing such as a church-girl dress to simple shirts/blouses but the strangest part of her wardrobe comes from Tomoyo's exotic fabrications of her battle costumes. To top it off, she sometimes wears a cross between a sailor hat in terms of colors and a beret in terms of shape.



Personality Overall Sakura has a cheerful outlook on life. Every morning she enthusiastically greets every one of her classmates and is overjoyed by even the slightest ideas. She trusts and depends on everyone which often times allows her to be easily manipulated or even crushed emotionally. On the same token, her emotions are easily swayed by those around her and if her friend is sad, she will also be sad but try to cheer the other up while hiding her own emotions (although not very successfully). Even when Shaoran was rude to her at the beginning of the Anime, Sakura still had a friendly demeanor as they both collected Clow Cards together. She always tries to look for the fairy tale ending, never giving into the thought that she "has no choice." Although easily discouraged, it's her determination that has gotten herself through the trials of becoming the Mistress of the Cards. Whenever she feels like giving up, she uses her invincible spell to reassure herself. "No matter what, everything will be alright."



Abilities/Strengths: Though she may look like a damsel in distress, Sakura is far from it. She wields 52 (well 53 if you count The Nameless) magical Clow Cards she inherited from the great sorcerer Clow Reed. However, all the cards were transformed to Sakura Cards (reference the history for more information on this). To use these cards, Sakura takes out a tiny key she wears around her neck as a necklace and transforms it into the Star Wand. She has the ability to sense magic and can use the cards for fortune telling in addition to fighting or other typical usage. Unlike her mother, Sakura is very athletic and can dodge deadly situations with her quick reflexes, but she sometimes relies on cards like Jump or Fly to enhance her abilities in extremely perilous situations.

Weapons: Her necklace, the Star Key, can be transformed into a pink staff, the Star Wand. It changes form based on the card used. (ex. Sword turns it into a sword, Mirror changes it into a mirror, etc.)



Weaknesses: Sakura has always been scared of ghosts and creepy stories ever since her brother, Touya, told her about the dead people he used to be able to see. Although acrobatic, she can at times be klutzy. More than anything, Sakura hates being alone and will push the panic button when she loses those she loves. Additionally as a young girl, her frame is rather weak and she lacks the physical finesse many other characters such as Shaoran have



History: Daughter to Nadeshiko and Fujitaka, Sakura seemed to be just like any girl with a loving family. However, her mother unexpectedly passed away when Sakura was only three, leaving a permanent void in her life. Regardless she pushed on normally with her older brother Touya and her father Fujitaka. Magic runs through both Kinomoto children's veins and Touya often times saw their deceased mother floating like an angel, effectively scaring Sakura into being afraid of ghosts since childhood.

Some time passed and Sakura entered the 4th Grade at the age of ten. Nothing could have spurred Sakura, who loved P.E. and hated Math, as out of the ordinary. However, one fateful day which started with a strange, prophetic dream, proved to contradict that as strange noises rattled out of her father's study. She walked in expecting to find a thief but instead found herself breaking the seal of a strange book with cards by reading "Windy."

After all 52 cards but Windy had been released, Keroberos (aka Kero or Kero-chan) enlisted an unwilling Sakura to help him seal all the escaped Clow Cards and bestowed the Sealing Wand into Sakura's possession. As she sealed one card after another from Fly (the first) all the way to Earthy (the last), her classmates began to notice strange things about Sakura. In particular, her best friend, Tomoyo, caught footage of Sakura using magic and insisted on video recording and costume coordinating all of the card captures Sakura made throughout her ordeals.

A few captures in, a transfer student from Hong Kong named Shaoran later followed by his "fiance" Meiling entered the show as another who had the ability to collect Clow Cards. In fact, several of the sealed Clow Cards went to Shaoran for credit for the capture. However, the rivals often times depended upon each other to capture the cards and built an intricate relationship as a opposed to hostility.

At the end of all the captures, both Shaoran and Sakura were presented with the Final Judgment. Heartbroken, Sakura watched helplessly as Shaoran was ripped apart by Yue, the judge. However, when the time came for her to fight, she refused to as Yue's hidden guise actually was Yukito, her secret love. As a result, Sakura and her friends were banished to a world without love. However, she received a second chance from Ms. Mizuki and transformed the Sealing Wand to the Star Wand, allowing her to effectively defeat Yue and become the Mistress of the Clow Cards.

Thinking that the strange incidents were now over, Sakura was rudely reawakened when a mysterious transfer student, Eriol, began to cause strange situations for her. However, when she tried to summon her new staff to defend herself like usual, the wand and the cards would not activate for her.

In a second situation, a mysterious storm puts the lives of Sakura and all her friends in jeopardy. Pressed for time in the desperate situation, Sakura looks inside herself to find the answer that she had been looking for. Her magic no longer came from the Sun, Moon, and Dark anymore but rather came from the power of stars, her own separate power. By changing both the incantation and Clow Cards into Sakura Cards, Sakura was finally able to use her powers again.

However transforming the power of the cards to depend upon her own powers severely drained Sakura's strength, often times causing her to pass out. Nevertheless, as Eriol continuously pressed Sakura and her allies into pressing situations, Sakura continued to transform the Clow Cards one by one, strengthening her magic.

Eventually Sakura had all the cards but Light and Dark transformed and had to face off against Eriol's dark magic which threatened to put the entire world to sleep forever. Alone, Sakura was unable to transform the two key cards considered the most powerful in the deck. However, with the help of Shaoran, Yue, Keroberos, and the rest of her friends, Sakura was able to transform the cards and overcome the darkness that threatened the world.

It was after all this time that Shaoran was able to admit his true feelings to Sakura. Sakura, who felt the same, was at a loss of words and was unable to answer. However, as both Eriol and Shaoran left to return to their original homes, Sakura was forced to overcome her mixed emotions and decide how to admit her love. The power of Sakura's emotions created the Nameless card (later turned into the Hope as a merge of the Nothing and the Nameless) foreshadowing her mad dash to the airport just before Shaoran leaves.

In the end, she never fully worded her emotions to Shaoran but both of them knew their emotions for each other. Shaoran moved back to Hong Kong and Sakura continued on with her life in Japan. (I'm taking her out right after the Anime episodes before the second movie so they haven't admitted their love to each other quite yet.)
